How to Dissable Corel Draw Adds

I use two Corel products, CorelDraw and Paint Shop Pro and am happy with both products. However, for about the last month or so I get a pop-up EVERY when I close down the program EVERY time. There is a check box to pick to disable these notices but it has been disabled so I cannot opt out.

I've posted msgs in the Corel forum, along with other annoyed customers, but have not gotten any information on how to opt out. Are these offers' in my software on my hard drive or does my program connect with the Corel mother ship each time I use the program, and it is activated at their end?

I have been a long time user of both programs, spending hundreds of dollars for use of the software. And my software is registered. These annoying offers are SPAM.

Any suggestions?

Couldn't find it. I was hoping the ads would stop after Christmas, but now they've got a photo contest I get to read about each time I use the program. Couldn't this spam exe be in the program files? I don't know how this works. Any other ideas?

Any help here?

When the Corel Guide pops up look at the upper right-hand corner you'll see a "gear" picture. Click the gear and a menu will pop up. Select "Message Settings" or Preferences or whatever it is.

Turn off messages in the dialog that pops up.

I realize this is an old thread, but in case others with more recent versions of Paint Shop Pro are looking for a solution, I found what seems to be a very simple solution on another forum. I'm running PSP X9, and under the Help menu there is a selection titled "Message Preferences" that opens a window with several options you can set, as you can see below:

Keep me informed with the latest product related messages

Automatically download free product updates and notify me before installing

Receive updates/offers as tray notifications: Once a dayOnce a weekOnce a monthDo not show me tray messages for this application

Had the same problem with Corel Painter -- got this from Support, and it worked:

Thank you for contacting Corel Technical Support.

Please try the following steps, to attempt to prevent the messaging pop ups from appearing:

1. Open up a run prompt by holding down the windows key on your keyboard + the letter "r"
2. Type Taskschd.msc and press ok.
3. Once the Task Scheduler app appears highlight the Task Scheduler Library Folder towards the top left.
4. The box on the right will show you what programs have scheduled tasks.
5. Locate the Corel tasks, there should be two of them and right click on it.
6. Choose delete
7. Close the window.
8. Restart the computer

I would very much love it if someone could come up with a fix to this annoying issue that works with PaintShop Pro X6, which seems to be "in between". There are fixes for disabling the special offers for X5 and earlier, and for x7 and later. I've got X6! I like X6 and have no desire to upgrade.

When I look in the Task Scheduler Library Folder Corel doesn't appear.

I have no Message Preferences setting in Help.

I have no Message Preferences option in File > Preferences > General Program Preferences

There is no Corel Guide with a gearbox.

Looking in MSCONFIG doesn't reveal any 'Remind32.exe' and a search of all files doesn't reveal Remind32.exe either.

Is there no way to get rid of that annoying offer?

Do another search with Everything.

I'm not sure it would work but create a firewall rule for the corel program blocking inbound and outbound connections.

Is there a messages folder? You can also do a search for messages in Everything. It may be in a different location for X6. Doing a search for Corel may find something in a different location.

For Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 10 users:

Hold down the Windows and R keys on the keyboard simultaneously
When the Run box appears, release both keys
Type: appdata in the Run text box
Click OK
Double click on the Roaming folder to open it
Double click on the Corel Folder
Highlight the Messages folder and press Delete on your keyboard

I have deleted the Messages folder per your directions. Now let's hope it stays gone! Since the upgrade offer doesn't appear all the time, I might not know for a while if this has done the trick. Thanks!

Ok so this doesn't work either. You know when you start Corel Draw how it says it's "Creating Application Environment"? It is rebuilding that Messages folder. In it (or one of its sub-folders), you will find a file named "Message.policy". Open it and you will see the following:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

You want to change the "opt-in" to "opt-out" and save the file.

Then change the file permissions so that nobody can write or modify it.

So far this has worked for me when every other suggestion I have see has failed.

To try this yourself, delete the entire Messages folder. Then start Corel Draw and immediately exit it. Go look and you will see a new Messages folder which was just created. Then perform the steps I outline here and do that same test.

This is the official way for November 2019 direct from Corel

1. Click on the start button and then type run

2. Once the run desktop app appears, click on it.

3. Type %appdata% and press "OK".

4. Once the AppData>Roaming folder appears, locate and open the Corel folder.

5. Locate and open the messages folder.

6. Delete everything under the messages folder.

7. Go back up one level and right click on the messages folder and choose properties.

8. Once the properties window has appeared click on the "Security" tab towards the top.

9. You will notice the following users: Everyone, SYSTEM and Administrators.

10. Click on Edit below the users.

11. Select to highlight "Everyone".

12. You will see the permissions in the bottom box.

13. Next to "Full control" click to check the Deny box.

14. Press Apply.

15. Click on "Yes" to the Do you want to continue window.

16. Click on "OK" on the Permissions to Messages window.

17. Click on "OK" on the Messages Properties window.

18. Try to launch the software to see if you receive any messages.
